Switchfoot
The other big event of the weekend was taking Noah and his friend Ryan to the Switchfoot Concert in Charlottesville, VA!
I liked Switchfoot before, but now I'm hooked! This was one of the best concerts I've been to b/c it was a smaller venue and so it was really personal. In fact, Jon Foreman (the lead singer/guitar) actually ran out into the crowd at one point and was singing! He was literally standing on a chair right in front of Noah! So cool!!!
They put on an awesome show! I wish I would have gone up in the pit instead of staying in the seats, cause everyone in the seats was pretty mellow ... but the people up in the pit were going NUTS!
If I can figure out how to get these pics off my new blackberry, I'm going to post a sweet pic I got of the lead singer when he was right next to us!
What I LOVE about Switchfoot is that they actually sing about life, faith, and relevant societal issues! Bands that actually write and sing b/c they feel that they have a purpose beyond entertaining are the kinds of bands that I really can jump on board with. I don't mind the ones that just entertain too, b/c I'm all for fun. But at the end of the day, they leave you with nothing! A band like Switchfoot not only entertained us, but gave us something to talk about after the concert. And I've still been thinking about some of the things they said, and some of the lyrics they sang. It was an all around great concert and great time for me and Noah!
Anyway, had a BLAST with Noah.

Lots of Memories Made but No Photo's

What a great weekend I had with my boyz!!! Two big events, but like a dummy, I forgot my camera for BOTH ... hence the pic from online!
First was the Cubs v Nats game at the brand new Nationals Park! WOW!!! I love that place! What a great stadium. Being from Chicago, I still like Wrigley better, but this is definitely 2nd. That being said, both Noah and Sammy said it's definitely 1st! For starters, they have a kidz zone that includes a bunch of Play Station 3's with all kinds of games, and it's FREE! Than they have a playground with all the tunnels, etc. They also have a pitching machine that is totally cool b/c it's actually a movie screen with the pitcher of your choice actually pitching the ball to you, and right at the release point the ball comes flying out of the screen (right where his hand is) and over the plate! AMAZING! Than they have another thing where you pitch the ball into a movie screen where a batter is standing, and try to strike him out.
Uncle Matt and Aunt Amanda went with us, and we met up with Uncle Joel and Ella! Cubs played great and won 7-0. We first sat in left field. Than we moved to our seats which were upper deck infield seats, right around 1st base. Than later in the game, we moved down into the 100 section, and finally moved down to the end of the first base dugout about 4 rows from the field! NICE seats! It was A BLAST!! I love going to ballgames with my boys! And we all wore our Cubs jerseys, along with easily 50% of the rest of the crowd!
I think that makes 3 Cubs games we've gone to together: 1 at RFK, 1 at Wrigley Field, and 1 at Nationals Park! A tradition to be continued ...

PIZZA?
Check out this pizza that my Sammy and Noah and Grandma made!

It's not actually pizza though. It's a cookie!!! The pizza sauce is jelly, the pepperoni's are slices of a fruit roll-up, and the cheese is actually shavings of white chocolate! And best of all, it's really good!!!!

Character!
When I think of my dad and Carrie's dad, one of the things that sticks out to me about their lives was their quality of character. That was part of the legacy they left for us, and for us to pass on. This video really speaks to the issue of character, and teaches a valuable leasson from history:
