More Pics

The pictures just keep rolling in, and so I have to post some more! Below is the entire Family with spouses and kids! Than you have a picture of my rib-loving son, Noah (I believe he told me he ate 24 ribs at Matt and Amanda's rehearsal dinner). And I had to include a picture of Carrie, who is famous for her "made-up" toasts at weddings!!! This time, she made up a long story about how Amanda had always confided in her how she someday wanted to marry someone who reminded her of Elvis. Her toast ended with, "Lets toast to Amanda finding her Elvis in Matt." I love it!

Ella in Charge!

Check out this video!

Ella looks like she's directing the choir!

I will say this - - when Ella gets old enough to start dating, I don't think her boyfriends are going to have to worry about her dad as much as they are going to have to worry about her cousins!!!

The Honor of Raising the Flag

Every year at the kids school, they carefully select 4 kids out of 5th grade to have the honor of raising and lowering the American Flag and Virginia Flag at school every day. Mind you, there are over 1,100 in K-5, so there are a lot of students in 5th grade to choose from.

Noah was chosen! We are so proud!!!

Cubs ...

... STINK!

Just lost 3 games straight, and we're out of the playoffs!

WHY DO YOU KEEP DOING THIS TO ME?!?!?!

Corn Hole

I went over to a friends BBQ two weeks ago, and he had this game called "Corn Hole". Basically, you toss these corn-filled bags (like bean bags, only with corn in them) into these six-inch holes from about 30 feet apart (actually, it's 27 feet).

Game sounds basic, easy, and boring ........ until you play! In fact, after my son played, he said, and I quote, "Dad. You were right. This game is way more fun than it sounds!" Of course he said that AFTER he beat me! But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Basically, after playing the game I went online to find one. A local guy builds them a sells them for $100 unfinished, or $160 finished with custom paint in the team colors and logo's of your choice! So what did I do? I endeavored to build my own (being the handyman, and cheapskate that I am!). Actually, I bought the bags from him, and build the corn hole set myself.
$30 dollars later, we're up and running. What made it fun was that a bunch of the family came out this weekend. So we played all weekend!!! Now I just need to get my custom logo's and paint, and this thing is gonna SWEET!!!
By the way, I don't know who those dudes are in the picture ... just pulled it offline! :-)

When I Don't Pray, I Don't Feel

I read a great post from a guy who's blog I read every once in a while. This is what it said:

"I think prayer might be to the church what the nervous system is to the body. If I get stung in the arm by a bee, nerves in my arm send a message to my brain. That signal lets me know that my arm is hurting.

Leprosy is devastating to the body because it attacks the nerves. I've heard horrifying stories of lepers waking up next to a campfire with a badly burned leg because they couldn't feel it shift into the fire."

I wonder if spiritual leprosy attacks our spirit when we fail to pray. It makes it easier for sin to live in us. It makes it easier to not feel the pain of sin in our lives. And we lose our sensitivity to Jesus speaking to our hearts.

I need to better prioritize prayer in my life!
