July Highlights

I've been a bad blogger this month! Seems like summer life is always so random, chaotic, and unorganized ... hence the lack of blogging! But, I had to get one post in for July, and include a few highlights. This probably doesn't even catch them all, but here goes anyway.

The highlight of the month of July is ALWAYS Sammy's birthday! This year we went to Medieval Times, and Sammy brought his best friend Richard (a.k.a. Tyler)! Happy 8th Birthday Sammy!!! And our Knight (The Red Knight) won every event until he was killed by the evil trader at the end ... but that's another story.

We also did a trip to Chicago ... our hometown! We had a blast. The trip started with a Cubs game at Wrigley!!! Awesome!!! And the Cubs won it in the bottom of the 9th, 2 Outs, down 2 runs, when Aramis Ramirez hit a 3 run homer to win the game!! Can't beat it!

We also did some touring, including Grant Park, Millenium Park, eating at the Billy Goat Tavern, visiting Water Tower Mall on The Magnificent Mile, and hitting Dunkin Donuts on several occasions. Here is a picture of the boys at the Shedd Aquarium looking back at the Chicago Skyline!!!

Another highlight was eating at Gino's East Pizza! DALISH! One of the cool things that everyone does there is Graffitti their names. So we labeled one of the chairs at our table.

We also visited the 96th Floor of the John Hancock Bldg, which is where Carrie and I got engaged. After we got engaged, we went on a carriage ride around downtown Chicago. Amazingly, the prices hadn't changed much, so we decided to do the same carriage ride, 13 and a half years later, with our two boys!!! It was awesome!!!!!!

We also took time to visit Naperville, the town I grew up in. The highlights of Naperville were going downtown to the Riverwalk, staying at Uncle Ed and Aunt Judy's, seeing cousin Kerry & Kyle and their boys, hanging with Sean, sleeping in Uncle Ed's camper, and going to Calvary and seeing many old friends. But the most special part was hearing the many great stories about Grandpa, meeting the people he impacted, and seeing the legacy he left! We sure do miss him, but we will never forget him! Here is a picture of us visiting his grave.

On a sad note, we said goodbye to Cheyenne, our Nanny who came over every day after school to stay with the boys until we got home! We miss the Merediths, but wish them the best!

July has been an adventure filled month, and August is looking like it's going to be even busier!!! Summer sure is fun!
